Asaf Hazan is a researcher and musician, holding a B.A. and M.A. in Philosophy from Tel Aviv University and a Ph.D. from the Program in Science, Technology and Society at Bar-Ilan University. His research focuses on the psychological dimension of technology, particularly on the transition from analog to digital technologies, the cybernetics movement, and the roots of artificial intelligence.

    מחקר

My doctoral thesis focused on the Macy Conferences of the cybernetics movement in the mid-20th century. It offered a psychological interpretation of the conferences’ central themes: the transition to digital technology and the emergence of feedback as a guiding principle. The concluding part of the study consisted of a redefinition of the metaphysical foundations underlying today’s artificial intelligence systems.

My current research explores the nature of human creativity in relation to artificial intelligence systems, and examines how both are connected to broader questions of memory in general and dreams in particular. Through these interrelations, I attempt to rethink the very way we conceive of “regulation” in relation to technology.
