CV
Inna Blus-Kadosh is a biologist and sociologist researching diverse forms of medical activism and the interfaces between technology, medical knowledge, and varied lived experiences of body and health. She completed her BSc and MSc in biotechnology at Bar-Ilan University, followed by several years as a researcher in the biotech industry, before pursuing a direct-track PhD in the Gender Studies Program at Bar-Ilan University. She is currently a postdoctoral researcher on the "Imagining Data Futures: From DNA to Outer Space" project, where her work examines the socio-technological imaginaries shaping the development of DNA-based data storage, while probing the cultural, ethical, and political implications of these technologies for the future of knowledge and the body in the digital age.
Research
The doctoral dissertation, supervised by Dr. Gilly Hartal in Bar-Ilan University's Gender Studies Program, is the first to systematically examine the promotion of primary care services for Israel's trans population. The study maps the systemic barriers entrenched in the primary healthcare system that hinder access to “trans-friendly” care, while focusing on informal forms of patient activism that drive change through independent and community-based initiatives without requiring large-scale institutional reforms.
Inna's current postdoctoral position within the Azrieli-funded project Imagining Data Futures: From DNA to Outer Space, supervised by Dr. Ella Klik, investigates the cultural and techno-social imaginaries shaping DNA data storage technologies. Drawing on her molecular biology background and social research expertise, she examines how scientists, entrepreneurs, and media construct visions of "natural" biosynthetic futures, where digital data is encoded into biological molecules. This interdisciplinary approach illuminates the ethical, cultural, and political implications of these emerging technologies for redefining knowledge, progress, and the human body in the digital era.
